What People Say About Sherlocked Escape Rooms in Amsterdam

We went to The Netherlands for the escape room conference and of course a visit to ‘The Vault’ was on the cards. We came away both thrilled and partly disappointed. First the thrilled part: believe the hype. This experience is an epic heist adventure on a scale you will not find elsewhere. However, the dynamics of the game itself felt a bit lacking. Maybe it were our heightened expectations, but as a fellow maker I think the puzzles are at points poorly designed. The main critique: having a group of 6 focus on a one-person challenge can get frustrating, and this happened around 4 times, with the other teammembers just standing by, looking how one of us solved the puzzle. Still, 5++ stars because of the ambition and scale Sherlocked pushed with this creation, it's really something unique in the world. And who knows, maybe The Vault was having a bad day..

After a somewhat disappointing first escape room experience I could not wait for a (hopefully) better experience which I definitely found here in the heart of Amsterdam at Sherlocked. We did The Architect with four people and, with four minutes left, escaped just in time. I really loved the venue which gave the escape room an authentic and mysterious feel. The host was welcoming and helpful. The interior of the room and the puzzles were very well-thought-out: everything matched perfectly together and looked as if it really belonged in that room. The puzzles were challenging but not too hard I think. Since I don’t want to spoil too much, I’ll just give you this: There is more than meets the eye in this escape room.

This escape game in the heart of Amsterdam is the most exciting and well executed escape game I've played so far. It is so beautifully made and constructed. For anyone not familiar with the concept of escape games: it is, in my opinion, one the coolest new type of activities to come out in the past few years. Seriously, it is a ton of fun. I went with 5 of my friends and from the moment we were in the room we were superexcited and running around, trying to work our way through the well-placed clues as quickly as we could. I don't want to give anything away but there were some definite "wow"-moments. Don't hesitate for a moment, this game is an absolute blast, and will leave you talking about it for a long time after!

I am a fan of escape rooms so I've passed a lot of them. So I know what I'm speaking about. The Architect escape room by Sherlocked is the one of the best I've ever visited. The killer feature of the room is really unusual, really unexpected turn of the game plot. Other point is atmosphere of the game: it is in historical building and environment in the room looks so realistic! More over if you win you will get really nice prize :-) I will definitely visit the other escape room by Sherlocked.

Some hard puzzles and some simple, but the important thing: with each solution, a burst of delighted excitement ran threw our group, and drove us on to find the next puzzle. We left glowing.

So much thought has gone into these experiences coming from exceptionally creative, clever people. We did a few team events here and it brought out a fun competitive spirit in the team. The guys who usually win everything came in last. :-) Really, truly a lot of fun and a not to be missed experience if you are spending a few days in Amsterdam.

Fun experience! Hard to describe without giving anything away - lots of running around by everyone involved to figure out all the pieces of the puzzle. Do it with at least 4 people but preferably with 6-8. We did it with 7 and had lots of fun.

Sherlocked in Amsterdam is really something special. As soon as we stepped into The Alchemist, we were blown away. It’s honestly one of the most beautiful and elaborate escape rooms we’ve ever seen. HOWEVER what truly made our visit unforgettable was our host, Victor. His kindness and attentiveness stood out from the start, but he still went above and beyond. Victor secretly collaborated with my (now) fiancé to plan a proposal at the end of our experience. And it was perfect!! This escape room was so genuinely significant and will be a day we’ll cherish forever. Unfortunately, this review does come a couple of months late (life has been busy, as you can imagine!) but we still wanted to thank Victor and the rest of the Sherlocked team. Thank you for giving us such a meaningful and extraordinary memory. Y’all have set the bar impossibly high for escape rooms, and we can’t wait to visit Amsterdam again one day!
