What People Say About Sherlocked Escape Rooms in Amsterdam

Let me start by saying that Sherlocked is definitely one of the top escape rooms in the Netherlands.The room is well made and the location is fantastic. Not only it's right in the middle of the city center but also because the building itself lends to the story at hand. But even more importantly than that, the game play is exceptional. First time player would have an experience of a lifetime while escape room enthusiasts would appreciate the ingenuity. It's not a static room where one puzzle would simply lead to another. There are mechanics involved and their effects are quite a delight and there are many puzzle designs that are outside the box. You'd be pleasantly surprised quite often. So yes, do play this room. Highly recommended. Having said that, the room does have some holes in its choice of storyline. There is not much progression of the narrative during the game which is somehow salvaged by the explanation at the end but still it could have been better integrated to the design. The atmosphere is a bit lacking with the absence of sound and light play but this might actually be preferable for players who are not too keen on feeling too nervous during the game. The puzzles are challenging and success rate is only around 30%. They are not impossible but it might be frustrating for people who are not used to solving riddles and figuring out codes. Some clues unfortunately was made rather unnecessarily difficult as it is hard to even see or hear it clearly. Our team did manage to make it out (with 10 minutes to spare and without any hints given by the game master) but we were told that this was not usually the case and we couldn't help thinking that simply making some clues easier to read and others clearer to hear would help players a great deal. Last but not least, the host/game master could have been a tad friendlier. He never tried to learn our names and did not seem to be interested in finding out where we are from. We assumed this was because he opted to stay in role at all time which was commendable but role playing should not be in the expense of hospitality. When I played escape rooms at other establishments (either in the Netherlands or in other countries), the hosts were interested in finding out how you experienced the room and were eager to connect to you as fellow escape rooms enthusiasts. Neither I nor my team mates felt that connection here. Still, do try the game. It's that good to overlook these inconveniences. If the organizers are able to improve on these other aspects, though, I have no doubt it could be one of the best escape rooms not only in the Netherlands but the world.

The Vault (escape room) Super exiting, hosted in a classic Amsterdam building of more than 100 yo. Original furniture, combined with modern technology makes a very interesting experience. The need to be creative in social interaction as well as in game solving is very cool. Best escape room ever! Looking forward to playing the Architect from Sherlocked as well

Check out The Vault! Went there for a team building trip. Unfortunately only for a maximum of 6, which is totally understandable and better for the experience. Thanks Sherlocked for the great afternoon!

These guys practically invented the phenomenon escape room, and it shows! Authenticity, adventure, intrige; it’s all there. Had the BEST time ever!

Two weeks ago me and two friends went in the room. Actually I thought that these kind of games weren't really my thing. But when I arrived at Sherlocked and that nice young lady took us to the basement of 'De Beurs van Berlage' I was immediately sold! What a beautiful room, what a fantastic atmosphere! It all felt extremely real! We all got really excited during the game and all my senses opened up. After the game I felt so much energy and happiness, probably because me and my friends had felt so much 'togetherness' while playing, that the continuation of the evening was great too!! Oh and btw: funny thing is we didn't even made it until the end, still it was so much fun and there were anyway so much discoveries to be amazed about!

A great experience, fun, challenging and always on theme. The atmosphere was brilliant as was the setting. Loved this experience.

I have played both The Architect and the Vault. Both were OUTSTANDING. Every detail has been thought of. I cannot express enough how much fun we had playing the games. The Architect is a must for anyone who wishes to try a timeless-classical escape room format. The Vault is totally next level, absolute immersion, so good. Be prepared to role-play your little heart out. Thank you to the team at Sherlock for their dedication at making such a detail, engaging, caring game.

What a fantastic thing to do in Amsterdam!! Nice central location but you don't even know it's there. Well organised from the moment you arrive. Thoroughly enjoyed. Would recommend this to anyone travelling to Amsterdam.
